Welcome to my page and thank you for coming to learn a little about me. I’m Jessica Zamora and our community elected me to the Board of Education in 2021. I am excited to have the opportunity to run for another term. I am committed to public education and have a track record showing my dedication to improving Poudre School District.
My understanding of public education and the needs of students runs deep. I have been connected to education throughout my entire career, often filling the role of a trusted adult for many students. I initially earned an engineering degree with hopes of making the world a better place, and quickly realized I could do more good by making education, and mathematics specifically, accessible for others. As a teacher, I understand the barriers that many students face and the resources needed to support them achieve their goals.
During my time on the board, I have served on many committees that have offered me a lens to understand the needs of our students from our earliest learners in preschool through the Early Childhood Policy Council to our upcoming graduates through the Student Advisory Council. As part of the Legislative Committee, I have advocated on behalf of our district and community. Last, but certainly not least, I have had the opportunity to listen to parents, teachers, and administrators discuss how we move our district forward with intention and sustainable action.
Perhaps my most important role and connection to Poudre School District has been as a mom. I am proud to be the parent to wonderful elementary and middle school students. They have afforded me the opportunity to participate in their educational journey and see school through an entirely new lens. As part of the parent community, I am aware of the joy our schools across our district bring to students and the community at large. Nothing brings people together quite like a school, whether it is a theater production, a sporting event, an academic competition, or even a back-to-school popsicle welcome. I strive to honor the local culture each school offers balanced with a PSD Promise that all of our students will be ready for success when they graduate.
I could talk about PSD and my passion for education endlessly. If you want to know more or just want to chat, please feel free to reach out through the contact information below or attend one of the event’s that will be posted on the home page and on my social media as they are scheduled.
